Healthy Halloween Snack for Toddlers

Halloween and healthy aren't two words that usually mix! However. I have the best easy halloween snack that your toddler will love... and it is a healthy snack alternative to all those extra additives! 

These celery monsters are the perfect halloween snack for your toddlers and kids to join in and get creative!

Healthy Halloween Snacks

If your toddler is anything like mine, getting new vegetables into him can be a nightmare! These healthy halloween snack celery monsters are perfect to celebrate halloween and get your toddler trying new healthy foods!

Make them as healthy as you like!

I used peanut butter in my celery monsters. However, feel free to change this ingredient up to suit your littles tastebuds. 

You could use 

• Peanut Butter
• Nutella
• Yoghurt 
• Mascarpone 
• Jam

Celery as a healthy snack for toddlers

Did you know celery is actually 95% water? Therefore, celery is great for those fussy eaters who aren't so keen on water. As well as water, celery contains vitamin K, which is great for blood clotting and bone health! I often hide it in my hidden veg pasta sauce for that very reason!

Plus, its green colour made the perfect body for my halloween monsters! Albiet, alone celery can be a little bitter. But when paired with a delicious spread, it becomes a yummy, healthy and crunchy snack for toddlers!

Making your celery into a halloween snack

Firstly, you want to cut your celery into smaller chunks. I like to chop them into a mixture of sizes so my monsters are all different shapes! Next, you want to wash the celery. Remember, it comes from the ground and as you can see can be left a little muddy still!

My toddler is a peanut butter monster himself, so it seemed only right I added peanut butter to mine. Celery has a dip in the middle (kind of like a hot dog bun) so I spread the peanut butter in the dip using a regular butter knife.  

Lastly, you want to add the edible eyes. I picked mine up from Asda for £1.50. I find these edible eyes come in really handy for making food fun. But please be cautious around babies as they are a chocking hazard.
