FREE farm tickets this summer
If you’re looking for a FREE family day out this June, this is one to get in the diary 👩🌾🚜
Across the UK, hundreds of farms are opening their gates for Open Farm Sunday on Sunday 7 June 2026, and most of them are completely FREE to visit. It’s such a lovely budget-friendly day out for families, especially if your little ones love tractors, animals and getting muddy in wellies!
Run by LEAF, the event gives families the chance to see what really happens on working farms and learn where our food comes from.
Expect things like:
- Tractor and trailer rides
- Animal meet-and-greets
- Sheep shearing and milking demos
- Farm walks
- Machinery displays
- Bug hunts and nature activities
- Pick-your-own fruit and veg at some locations
- Plus loads of countryside fun for the kids
It sounds like the perfect low-cost day out if you’re trying to keep the children entertained without spending a fortune this summer.
The best bit? Around 90% of the farms taking part are free entry, although some may charge a small fee for parking or extra activities, so it’s always worth checking before you go. Many farms also ask visitors to book in advance because spaces can fill up quickly.
You can find your nearest participating farm using the official Farm Finder here:

Every farm is different, so it’s worth having a little browse to see which one suits your family best. Some focus on animals, others have huge machinery displays, and some even include food stalls, nature trails and hands-on activities.
A few things I’d definitely recommend taking:
- Hand sanitiser
- Snacks and drinks
- Suncream
- Hats & sunglasses
- A change of clothes for the kids if they’re anything like mine
If you’re always looking for cheap or free family days out, this one is definitely worth checking out. It’s educational, outdoorsy and gives the kids something completely different to do, without the hefty price tag of theme parks or attractions.
