Choosing the 'ripe' bunch

See what I did there?

The older the banana's the better! Did you know, a banana can be completely black and still be okay to eat?

The reason older bananas are better for baking is because they have developed more sugar and will be sweeter. Just make sure your banana's do not have any mould on them! To find out more click here.

What ingredients do I need?

The total cost of my banana bread bars is £1.32. I made 16 so they work out at just 8p each. Additionally, you could try using brown sugar to make them healthier. But as I,  wanted to keep cost as low as possible, stuck with granulated.

tep 4: Whisk your ingredients together and transfer into your baking tray. Mine was an Aldi special buy, but I have found similar here.

Step 5: Pop into the oven at 180 degrees for 16-20 minutes. Remember to prick the bars with a fork, if there is still batter on the fork, they need longer. If the fork comes out clean, they are cooked!

Step 6: Once cooked, wait for them to cool and serve! They taste lovely warm or are perfect as a lunchbox snack. I keep them in an air tight container in the fridge. I love how they are such an easy toddler snack to just grab and go!
