What is Vinted?
Vinted is an app where you can buy and sell preloved goodies. It is mainly clothes, but people do sell some homeware and miscellaneous items too. Basically, it is just like Ebay, except they don't take sellers fee so you keep 100% of what you sell. They also sort postage labels out for you, so you don't have to organise that yourself.
How does Vinted work for sellers?
It's really easy actually! I have made around £800 from selling (you can read my top tips here). You upload a few images and brief description and vinted do the rest! Usually, from your description they can fill in details like, colour, size, brand etc. You then chose the condition of the item - this is great as I have seen lots of people sell 'satisfactory' items for nursery or messy play!
Once you sell an item the buyer pays for the shipping label. You can either print the label off or lots of carriers have digital labels available. You then drop off at your local shipping point (mine is tesco!) and you're done! There are lots of different carriers available like Evri, Yodel, Royal Main etc. I turned off all options other than Evri, as the collection point is close to me and its the cheapest option for buyers anyway!
How does Vinted make money?
I think a huge reason for Vinted's success if that they don't charge sellers a fee for selling. It is great because you keep everything you earn! It's then put into your vinted wallet and you can either put it into your bank or use it as credit to buy.
Vinted make their money by adding a buyer protection fee. It is pretty annoying as a buyer and you have to pay a fee every time you buy something. When I first started using Vinted postage was only 99p! Now its £2.89, plus the buyer protection fee! I don't buy as much as I used to as most of the time the postage and fees is more than the actual item. However, if its a bargain I sometimes can't resist!
Another way Vinted make money is by 'wardrobe spotlight'. You can pay £6.95 for a week of having your items feature on buyers feeds. I have actually done it a few times before (see how I got on here).
How do you make money on Vinted?
So I have now made around £800! I buy things at charity shops and boot sales to resell, its become a side hustle for me! I started as we are saving up for a holiday in summer, so we needed some extra income to afford it. I tend to buy mainly kids / toddler clothes and resell. I can write a whole article on finding things to resell on Vinted if you would like to read!
I wrote an article HERE for you to see my top tips on making money on Vinted.
Should I get started selling on Vinted?
Yes! I'm sure we all have clothes that don't fit / we don't like in our wardrobes. Or bags of children's clothes they've outgrown. Just start listing and making some money!
