Ways we are saving for a new home
In the next two years we would love to buy (or partly buy) a new house! We’ve been renting for the past four years and it would be nice to eventually have some kind of ownership. But even if you aren’t saving for a new house, these tips will help you learn how to start saving!
Side hustling our way to a new home

Our side hustling is really helping us with our deposit. Our wages go on bills, so side hustling is helping us get that bulk deposit. We started in the summer with our summer fayre challenge, which we are now taking into Christmas. Plus, various other side hustles. Just remember that if you earn over £1000 you must register as a sole trader with HMRC.
Low spend / no spend weekend

We frequently have no spend days and weekends. I love a wholesome weekend and it helps us to reset our finances. We will definitely be doing no-spend January again too - don’t forget to join my Facebook group to get more money saving tips and join my no spend months!
Budget every penny to save for a house

My budget spreadsheet means we can track every single incoming and outgoing. It really did change our lives. Before we would just tap, tap, tap. Now we are more conscious of how much we are spending and what areas we need to cut back (usually on the food shopping!)
Keeping warm without spending the pennies

We are trying to turn our heating on as little as possible. We’ve made some small investments into mattress toppers, warmies, hot water bottles etc. “Heat the person not the home” is one of my favourite quotes…. Although let’s be realistic, sometimes the heating is needed!

Plan the food shop

When we started budgeting we quickly realised we were spending way too much on food each month! So I started my ‘5 meals for £20’ series, and started to become more conscience on how much we were spending. Meal planning really helped and buying reduced products!
Buying second hand so we can get a brand new home

You guys know I am a second hand addict! Any chance to go bargain shopping and I’m there. Most of our clothes are second hand, especially Albie’s as they grow so quickly. It’s got to a point now where I actually hate paying full price for things. If I can fiend it cheaper than I will.
